Title: The furthest Quasars in the X-rays

Abstract: Studying quasars (QSOs) at high-redshift provides key constraints to our knowledge of how Supermassive Black Holes (SMBHs) formed and evolved in the early Universe. X-ray observations, being less affected by obscuration and host-galaxy contamination than optical/IR bands, and probing the accretion physics on the smallest scales, are excellent tools for this task. I will present recent X-ray observations of a sample of z>6 optically selected QSOs, with the goal of studying their accretion physics, and compare the results with the QSO population at lower redshift. I will also talk about the population of obscured QSOs at high redshift, which are missed by current selection techniques. Finally, I will discuss how future X-ray observatories (Athena, Lynx, AXIS) will allow us to extend the study of accreting SMBHs to higher redshifts and lower luminosities than those probed today.
