INSA - JRD TATA FELLOWSHIP

Indian National Science Academy, a premier scientific organization in India representing all branches of Science and Technology, has instituted the INSA-JRD TATA FELLOWSHIP administered by CCSTDS in honour of the late JRD Tata, visionary and a leading industrialist. The purpose of this Fellowship is to extend facilities of the advance scientific infrastructure and expertise of India to scientists and researchers of developing countries. The Fellowship established from an Endowment received from Sir Dorabji Tata Trust will foster free mobility and exchange of scientists from the developing world and promote south-south cooperation.

Scope and Duration of Fellowship
The Fellowship provides an opportunity for young scientists, teachers and researchers from the developing countries all over the world to undertake research studies in India. It covers short-term, participatory research studies in all major disciplines of science and technology including engineering and medical sciences at the Indian Centres of Excellence selected by the scientists. The Fellowship awardees are provided considerable freedom in availing the opportunity and formulating the contents of their research work in India. The awardees may either correspond with the host institute and opt to work there if offered placement or seek the assistance of CCSTDS for placement. The maximum period of award will be for three months.

Eligibility
Applicant must be a scientist, teacher or a research scholar, preferably below 45 years of age affiliated to a scientific or academic institution in a developing country (outside India). Applicant must possess a valid passport.

Research Training Fellowship for Developing Country Scientists ( RTFDCS)

Call for Proposal
CCSTDS strives to promote research linked training to bright and young researchers and students to choose scientific research for their career. CCSTDS has launched a RTF programme in collaboration with Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. This progamme is intended for developing country scientists who have aptitude for research and would be willing to work in an Indian research laboratory and who wish to equip themselves with research and complementary skills to improve their pursuit of Ph.D study or diversify their research capabilities. This is facilitated through training for a period of 3 - 12 Months at Indian research/ academic institutions.

The main objectives of the fellowship are to
• Promote mobility of researchers between India and other developing countries
• Enhance India's attractiveness as a hub for international training
• Develop research competencies of the developing country scientists through structured training modules
• Utilize the fellowship to seed long-term research collaboration

Who can apply
• Candidates with Post-graduation in science, engineering and allied disciplines from a developing country and of age up to 40 years
• Candidates with aptitude for research and interested in acquiring expertise in research related tools at Indian location.
• Candidates preferably attached to a national research /academic institution in their home country
• Candidates possessing valid passport.

JNCASR-CCSTDS FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME FOR SCIENTISTS FROM DEVELOPING COUNTRIES

Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) is a well-known multidisciplinary research institute. JNCASR's mandate is to pursue and promote world-class scientific research and training at the frontiers of science and engineering. The Centre was established in 1989 by the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India, to mark the birth centenary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Researchers at the Centre are divided into six units: Chemistry and Physics of Materials, Engineering Mechanics, Evolutionary and Organismal Biology, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Theoretical Sciences, Educational Technology and Geodynamics. JNCASR has two off-campus units at the Indian Institute of Science: the Chemical Biology and Condensed Matter Theory Units. For Further details http://www.jncasr.ac.in.
